Biography
Dr. Julian C. Velez is a board-certified chiropractor and neurofunctional acupuncture provider. An interest in health and athletic performance was piqued at an early age; volleyball, track, and his training in classic and contemporary dance contributed to his understanding of the importance of a well-functioning body, and a desire to help others achieve the same. This passion led him to earn a Bachelor in Kinesiology, majoring in Mind Sciences from the University of Calgary, followed by a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.
Dr. Velez has been exposed to and has experience with a wide spectrum of patients and injuries, having spent his clinical rotations at St Michael’s Hospital, Sherbourne Health Center, and as part of the Wellness team for the People with AIDS Foundation Bike Rally. His approach to care is biopsychosocial and combines a variety of therapies, including:
- Spinal & Extremity Joint Mobilization & Manipulation
- Soft Tissue Therapy
- Neurofunctional Acupuncture
- Cupping Therapy
- Exercise Prescription
- Education
- Taping
Dr. Julian spent his early childhood in Medellin, Colombia, before moving to Canada – First Montreal, and then Calgary before making Toronto his home. He enjoys discovering new neighbourhoods and cafés around the city, travelling, reading, and exercising.
